Quads didn’t sound like live music, both for myself and Troy we both went down similar paths to eventually discover that what sounds real to us is what we want to pursue.Īsk yourself as you listen to live music which is bright and dynamic as hell, which sounds more real and which speakers mimic the live experience? I started with Quad ESL 63 with dual Entec subs playing Joni Mitchell was fantastic on them, moved into Wilson WP 3/2 and then 5 and would never go back to Quads. If you value musicality and elevated warmth in the midrange, value a more liad back tonal balance don’t care for dynamics you will hate the Adantes. ![]() In terms of imaging, speed, definition bass tightness and punch they are quite amazing, if you value the sound of live jazz or rock and have the patientce to work with components and cabling to voice the treble they will remind you of very expensive speakers. So are the Adantes game changers it depends on what you value, they are not perfect, the treble is still a bit forward, however, with the right match they can sound quite amazing. ![]() The killer combo is going to be the Naim Nova which is way better then the Atom with the AF 61 which will make a fantastic system with just one piece of electronics, totally system $12k plus cabling. I am sure in about 2 years time Adante Elite, same drivers better damped cabinet, better wiring and crossover for $5k monitors and $10k floorstanders. I am sure in the next year or so as people learn how to setup the Adantes with matching gear, ie tubes or warm sounding solid state gear, and the positive reviews start piling up, like with the Debut and Unifi lines, and the Adante line starts to really sell, guess what will be next? If they had an even better damped cabinet, with higher end components most likely they would sound exactly the same as many really expensive reference speakers, most likely these were the compromises that were required to keep the price down. The treble is a bit forward so careful matching is required. What they mimic: huge soundstage, very tranparent, very dynamic very tight well controlled bass. The reason people are freaking out about the Adante particularly the AF 61 floor standers is that what they do they sound like much of the $20k to $30k reference camp in what they do well, but lack the last vestige of refinement of the better speakers. The Adantes are totally different sounding, they are alive sounding they remind me of a good set of the Wilson Watt Puppy 7 or 8 sound for a fraction of the price. The reason many people swear by Vandys is they are very musical, and are easy to extract pleasing sound with. Vandy 2Ce is a great speaker with a laid back treble, a large and not well focused image and prodigous bass which tends to be warm and not particularly tight. Maggies have good detail and a lovely tonal balance, good imagers with great dynamics and extended bass they are not. When you play a drum on a Maggie you don’t get the twack of a live drum, you also don’t get a very good image because the large flat plane causes diffraction. If your back wave is 180 degrees out of phase that is called diapole cancellation, and you have nothing to push against, as equil and opposite reactions cancel out, meaning your wave launch is not very good. You and I prefer very different things, having owned Maggies they are wonderful but highly flawed designs which is not the fault of Maggie it is a fault of all planers. I think that with powered speakers it would be a shame not to take advantage of DSPs, so I find KEF’s solution to be effective and rational.Tomic comparing a Vandersteen to an Adante is like compairing an venerable old sports car to a brand new one. But using KEF’s software I was able to get the most out of them - it was truly a “night and day” difference. I placed the LSX where I could - far from an ideal positioning, actually, and this was apparent when listening to the speakers. ![]() The living room has therefore an odd placement of furniture to take this into account. I currently live in London where I share a house with other people one of them is disabled and needs space to move around on his wheelchair. I find that KEF’s solution to placement is brilliant and bring a real improvement to the board. I already reviewed the KEF LSX which offer the exact same adjustments as the LS50W. I would like to chime in regarding the adjustments that are possible on KEF speakers. They are a great piece of hardware for sure. Well, of the three you list I have only heard the KEF (I am in fact working on a review currently).

This includes precious metals, as well as fertile soil necessary for the growing of crops. The Greeks believed that Hades’ rulership of the Underworld meant that the god also had access to the secret wealth that is hidden in the earth. Hades, god of the Underworld, the dead, and riches.( Archivist / Adobe Stock ) It may be mentioned that Hades’ role as a god of wealth is often overshadowed by his role as the god of the dead. Nevertheless, there are certain attributes that allow one to identify this god, including a scepter and key, both of which are symbols of his dominion of the Underworld, and a cornucopia (horn of plenty), which points to his role as a god of wealth. Hades is so infrequently depicted in art that there are no strict rules as to how this deity ought to be represented. This is not surprising, considering that death was a subject that people would normally avoid. Other epithets given to Hades include Polysemantor (Ruler of Many), Polydegmon (Host of Many), and Nekrodegmon (Receiver of the Dead).ĭespite being a major god, Hades does not appear as often as the other Olympians in Greek art. How Hades is ViewedĪs death was considered to be a taboo subject, Hades was also given several euphemistic epithets, such as Plouton, meaning ‘Of Wealth’, and Theon / Zeus Khthonios, meaning ‘God / Zeus of the Underworld’. As the ruler of the Underworld, Hades’ name is commonly said to mean ‘Unseen / Invisible One’. Zeus was given rulership of the sky, Poseidon the sea, and Hades the Underworld. The helm of darkness was also lent to the hero Perseus during his quest to slay the dreaded Gorgon Medusa.įollowing the defeat of the Titans, the three brothers, Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades, divided the universe among themselves by drawing lots. Hades is known to have lent his helm of darkness to the other gods.įor instance, during the Trojan War, Athena wore this helm when she aided the Greek hero Diomedes. Some believe that after the Titanomachy, the helm became even more powerful and gained the ability to control the dead. This headgear allowed its wearer to become invisible. Zeus was given the lightning bolt, Poseidon the trident, and Hades the helm of darkness. In the end, the younger generation of gods, who became known as the Olympians, triumphed over the Titans.ĭuring the Titanomachy, the Cyclopes, who had been freed by the Olympians, made powerful weapons for the gods. The resulting war between the two generations of gods is known as the Titanomachy. When Zeus grew up, he returned to Cronus, freed his siblings, and challenged the Titans for supremacy. ![]() Fearing that one of his own children would eventually overpower him and replace him as king of the gods, Cronus devoured his children, including Hades, as soon as they were born.Ĭronus’ youngest son, Zeus, however, was saved by his mother and raised in secret. His father was the Titan Cronus, while his mother was Rhea. The ancient Greeks believed that Hades belonged to the first generation of Olympian gods. Titanomachy Brings a New Generation of Gods As one of the major Greek gods, Hades is featured in a number of myths, normally as a supporting character, but sometimes as a main one as well. Nevertheless, he is not considered to be a member of the Twelve Olympians, as he resided not on Mount Olympus, but in the Underworld instead.Īs Hades’ domain is located beneath the earth, the Greeks also believed that he was the god of the earth’s hidden wealth. Thus, he was an important god in the Greek pantheon. ![]() One moment you’re juggling robots like you’re playing Baby’s First Devil May Cry, the next you’re trying to beat a time trial in a 2D platforming stage, and a minute after that you’re playing a game of pinball inside of an active volcano. Not all of those activities are created equal, but it works overall just because of the sheer variety. Just like Pokémon Legends: Arceus and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain before it, Frontiers keeps a lot of what makes the Sonic series beloved and unique (including some fun homages) but also throws in big areas to explore and fills them with a wild assortment of side distractions and mostly interesting new ideas. What becomes clear after a few laps around the first island is that Sonic Frontiers is an action-adventure game that joins a growing pack of old-school series looking to reimagine themselves as open-world sandboxes – and in this particular case it mostly works out. That can be improved a fair bit by leveling up your speed stat over the course of the campaign, but I still would have preferred the default starting speed be a little more Roadrunner and a little less hungover hedgehog. The only thing that’s a little disappointing about whizzing around is that, unless you’re getting the speed boost that comes with being maxed out of rings, you don’t run quite as fast as you might hope. And since it lets you turn running into a deadly weapon, it makes speeding around the map all the more entertaining. Plus, literally running circles around your enemies is just an incredibly Sonic thing to do, which is why I practically never stopped doing it throughout my playthrough. This ability can be used and abused to do damage in combat, solve puzzles, and even farm rings since it generates a few every time. My personal favorite new trick, though, is the Cyloop – it lets you draw a circle while blazing a trail to create a tornado of death that impacts everything caught within it. The islands you dash about on are suitably large playgrounds for you to test the limits of your roadrunning, so long as you don’t fall into water or lava that immediately kills you. Sprinting around the sprawling open-world areas is, as you’d hope, one of the best parts of this open-world odyssey. All of that more than sated my ravenous appetite for Sonic’s usual anime-style nonsense in between all of the fancy robot kicking and rolling around at the speed of sound. One part of the campaign hones in on the brotherly rivalry between Sonic and Knuckles, while another does a great job at building Tails up as more than just Sonic’s sidekick. But they do leave room for some really good moments between the furry cast of characters – in fact, Frontiers produces some of the most in-depth characterizations of the Sonic cast we’ve ever seen in a game. With all of the different plot threads Frontiers juggles, they do end up feeling oddly disconnected from each other and none of them offer a ton of surprises between their ungodly number of cliches concerning the power of friendship and ancient civilizations wielding advanced technology. I did find myself feeling blue because of the absurd amount of pop-in that happens every time this famously fast character does his thing, but Sonic Frontiers is, for the most part, a promising first attempt at blazing a new trail for the series. Even when some of those ideas didn’t work, I was almost always glad that Sega gave it the old college try, and as a result I rarely found myself bored. When I jumped off the starting line of this sprint across Sonic’s first open-world game I certainly didn’t expect to play jump rope, duke it out with a giant robot, watch a dramatic origin story for an extinct race of beings, or do a heck of a lot of fishing, but Frontiers kept me guessing even late into the campaign with what it would try next. ![]() Instead, it takes the all-you-can-eat buffet approach, throwing new ideas at you from start to finish, without really seeming to care if they’re fresh and appetizing or looking wilted and limp under the heat lamp. This case study details our experiences in moving to an online environment. We carried out think-aloud studies in four different European countries, with three different languages. Originally, we anticipated carrying out the interviews face-to-face but, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, we were compelled to adapt our planned approach. Common themes can then be derived from the interview transcripts that allow the researcher to understand how to refine and improve the questionnaire. Respondents are asked to complete the questionnaire while verbalizing their thought processes, or “thinking aloud.” The interviewer takes no part in the interview, other than prompting the respondent to continue talking if they stop verbalizing their thoughts. Think-aloud interviews (or cognitive interviews) are a means of gaining qualitative information about how a respondent is understanding the questionnaire. The questionnaire was developed to be used across Europe, and it was therefore important to test that it was understood by respondents in a variety of international contexts. This case study describes our experiences of conducting think-aloud interviews online to test the first draft of a new questionnaire that asks respondents about their use of items such as hospital care or the justice system. a new treatment for back pain, or a new way of delivering hospital care). Volume of Prism Formulaĭifferent prisms have different volumes. Here’s how to calculate the volume of a variety of prisms. ![]() The volume of a three-dimensional prism is represented as cubic units. (image will be uploaded soon) Therefore Volume General Formula it is Represented as, Volume of a Prism (V) = Base Area × Length ![]() To calculate the volume of a prism, you just have to calculate the area of its base and multiply it by its height. The volume of a 3D prism is defined as the total space occupied by that object. So the different types of prisms are given their names on the basis of their cross-sectional figure formed.Īs the prism is a 3D solid object it has both the surface area and volume. The prism is named after the shape of its base, hence a prism with a triangular base is called a “triangular prism”. And the same cross-section along with its length.Ī prism is a solid three-dimensional geometric figure with two similar ends and all flat sides. The side faces are flat and parallelogram.Identical base and top which are parallel to each other.Through the diameter the surface area of the base can be calculated and then to get the volume just multiply it by the cylinder's height.A three-dimensional solid shape having its base and top as identical polygons and side faces as parallelograms are called a prism. Our volume calculator requires that you insert the diameter of the base. In many school formulas the radius is given instead, but in real-world situations it is much easier to measure the diameter instead of trying to pinpoint the midpoint of the circular base so you can measure the radius. You need two measurements: the height of the cylinder and the diameter of its base. The volume formula for a cylinder is height x π x (diameter / 2) 2, where (diameter / 2) is the radius of the base (d = 2 x r), so another way to write it is height x π x radius 2. To calculate the volume of a tank of a different shape, use our volume of a tank calculator. By designating one dimension as the rectangular prism's depth or height, the multiplication of the other two gives us the surface area which then needs to be multiplied by the depth / height to get the volume. They are usually easy to measure due to the regularity of the shape. To calculate the volume of a box or rectangular tank you need three dimensions: width, length, and height. To find the volume of a rectangular box use the formula height x width x length, as seen in the figure below: For this type of figure one barely needs a calculator to do the math. It is the same as multiplying the surface area of one side by the depth of the cube. The only required information is the side, then you take its cube and you have found the cube's volume. The volume formula for a cube is side 3, as seen in the figure below: air conditioning calculations), swimming pool management, and more. Volume calculations are useful in a lot of sciences, in construction work and planning, in cargo shipping, in climate control (e.g. The result is always in cubic units: cubic centimeters, cubic inches, cubic meters, cubic feet, cubic yards, etc. All measures need to be in the same unit.
